Michelangelo's Moses, early XVI century; the horns on Moses' head may be the result of a mistranslation from Hebrew to Latin by Saint Jerome (Exodus XXXIV, 29). When Moses descended Mount Sinai, he was described as having 'rays of light' on his face. In Hebrew, 'karen' means rays, whereas 'keren' means horns. The mistake is even more obvious if we consider that in Hebrew, the vowels are not written down, only the consonants are represented.
